Parquetry is a French word, it comes from the Latin “parchet” meaning packet, or group.

“Parquet de Versailles” floors were laid in the Palace of Versailles in 1684 to replace the marble floors which required constant washing and led to the timber bearers rotting, the wooden floors were much admired and since then they have featured in many grand houses.

A parquetry floor gives style and a unique character to a home.  Beautiful parquetry designs give a light mood and a warm welcoming atmosphere to a room and significantly increase the value of any home or office.

Parquetry has the same heirloom quality look and feel to it of an antique piece of furniture or musical instrument passed down from generation to generation, it has the advantage of elegantly combining shape and style with the alluring beauty and colour of wood, something no other flooring can do.

Block parquetry is made with rectangular blocks of wood that come in a range of sizes, and installation systems.
